THE STYLE LAB : FALLING FOR LAYERS
9:41 PM
Hey, November, you are very confusing with your random sixty degree days, but I am thankful (pun intended) because I adore dressing in layers, without sacrificing style. Usually, at this time of year in New England, we need extra protection from the elements. This STYLE LAB showcases a few ways to layer the basics found in every closet!
Black pants, the staple. The pants I have in my drawer are affordable leggings, but I enjoy the slight edge on these moto-inspired denim skinny jeans. Speaking of edge...

Camo is back! I own this Camo Coach tote. Given to me as a birthday present over the summer, I was thrilled to use it as a jumping off point to my Fall wardrobe. I have received many compliments on it, and all are surprised it is Coach! A more cavernous bag than I'd normally carry, but the tote construction enables me to multi-task, which is key for a busy mom like myself. Plus, I like that although it appears very structured, it is actually malleable and comfortable on the shoulder.
I am a fan of the vest, in any season, and although I don't own this vest, I do like it. Every year I peruse the new vest selections and try to contain myself. Last year, I purchased a furry navy one that required extensive tailoring, so I'm not in the market, but I wanted to show you that a lighter layer on top of a darker sweater brings a warmer look. Right now, a vest like this can be found anywhere, and wherever you live, work, or run daily errands - a great vest keeps your core warm!
Boot season is conflicting for me. I loathe to see as soon as September rolls around women get lazy and throw on their boots OVER EVERYTHING. Especially the jeans, that just kills me. It is so uncomfortable to stuff your jeans into boots!! I just can't do it, not only because it's so unoriginal, but by the time Winter is over you are soooo tired of your beloved boots. Let's get creative while making feet happy, there are other solutions than the tall rubber boot. (when it's not raining) I admit, a tough accomplishment that requires thought, but I found these great little Sorel rain boots in my chosen color of the season. I am very happy with the purchase of them, and whenever you are ready for inclement weather, the sun shines - a win!
