RING IT IN : A NEW, HAPPY YEAR

8:47 AM

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU & HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US

I would like to first thank you all for your support and enthusiasm while I have not only been creating my first collection of fine jewelry, but also styled and captured moments while writing about a subject I truly love : Jewelry!  It has now been one year since I sat down to pen my first post; I have enjoyed it immensely.  I'm also thrilled to have made great friends (lifetime bonds) with some of the finest ladies of the jewelry industry.  Oh, and a few gents too!   Bonus.

Here on the blog, you've gotten to know my style, so you will not be surprised when I take the opposite approach to entering 2015 without resolutions and empty promises. Resolutions are made to be broken, well, not really - but they always are!  I believe you are starting with defeat by making such promises to yourself, even with the best intentions.  A terrible way to enter a new year, with self-created GUILT.  Instead, I have make a short list, just four little things, that you should not give a damn about in 2015.  Isn't is more fun to think of the positive ways you will enjoy yourself by shedding those nagging worries?  Be bold, abandon tradition, and hold your head high this new year!  I have to say, I am relieved 2014 is behind us, if only for a day, and I am very much looking forward to a new, happy year.

4 THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT IN 2015

What other people have...

You should never look to another in comparison to yourself; getting caught up in exterior validation is destructive and a waste of energy.  No bank account, zip code, closet, social media follows and or likes amount to true happiness.  No matter what your emotions (or those emoticons) say!  Forge your own path, you will arrive at your destination when it's time.  Trust.

The expectations...

It's unreasonable to live up to someone else's expectations.  No one walks in your shoes, understands your daily demands and what lies in your heart - being uniquely you is truly your only obligation!

Failing...

Is there such a thing as failure?  I like to call those moments, when it just does not go your way, a life lesson.  Life lessons are the entry point for learning.  There is always a silver lining or something you can take away from the experience.  Always.  Get back up, learn your mistakes, try again.  Putting forth effort is always rewarding, especially if you are embarking on a future you are passionate about.

Perfection...

So, this one I need to work on myself, my friends are laughing - I can hear you!  Life is messy and the journey is long - learn to enjoy and share the little steps that get you to where you are going.  I find people truly want to help someone succeed, and if they don't you will find out quickly enough.  But, you may just be surprised at the joy you find in letting go of your ideals and doors may just open unexpectedly for you!

Thank you for being a part of my year!
Be happy, shine bright, and may all of your hopes and dreams of 2015 come true.
